The film isn’t exactly about smoking. In fact you won’t see anyone lighting up a cigarette in the whole movie. It’s more about personal choices, challenging authority and standing up for what you believe in. The film is full of arguments that, in my opinion, are valid.
Aaron Eckhart plays Nick Naylor (aka Ruby), the “bidang kontrabida”, a lobbyist for cigarettes. Almost everyone in the film hates him but you won’t be able to help rooting for him.
The film also stars Robert Duval, William H. Macy, Katie Holmes, Rob Lowe, J.K. Simmons, Cameron Bright, Maria Bello and David Koechner.
It’s a funny, entertaining and witty satire on what’s happening in the world today.
Love the editing. Love the script. Love the film!
I give it 5 smoking stars!
I’m not sure if it was shown here in the Philippines in 2005. Probably not.
